Good Samaritan and Harm Reduction Kits Provide Free Naloxone and Other Vital Overdose Prevention Resources to Metro Denver

Tepeyac is excited to offer our community access to vital opioid overdose prevention resources with our FREE Good Samaritan and Harm Reduction Kits.

Opioid overdoses have been on the rise in Denver and nationwide. Opioids are commonly used for the treatment of pain, and include medicines such as morphine, fentanyl and tramadol.  According to the World Health Organization, non-medical use, prolonged use, misuse and use without medical supervision can lead to dependence, serious health complications, and even death.

Harm reduction strategies include testing your drugs, using less risky methods of administration, and never using alone. Our Good Samaritan Kit includes all the tools needed to help someone experiencing an overdose, while our Harm Reduction Kits include further resources to reduce risk of opioid overdose and other health complications.

Both kits include Naloxone (also known as Narcan), a medicine used to quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Naloxone is also available at the Tepeyac Pharmacy without a prescription. To learn how to administer Naloxone, watch this instructional video from the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment.
